Rain Dance

Rain Dance

Confusion

I don’t know why, but today, your eyes fail to see me.

All alone in a darkened room where walls aren’t safe for leaning

Cries come again and its back to the pain, God it all feels the same the same.

Same Blue Review, (Same) beggars face (Same) nothingness that fills this place

Fire’s hot and my hands are scorched

Wings are melted but I still want more

Get away with your morals and empty advice

I’ll just dance until lightning strikes

Come and dance, come and dance with me

Soak your feet in my pity

Neon Crosses and lobby groups

Doctrinal lies like “Peace bound Troops”

Let it Rain Let it Rain Let it Rain, Rain on Me.

Let it Rain, let it Rain Let it Rain, Rain on Me.

Let it Rain Let it Rain Let it Rain, Rain on Me.

Let it Rain, let it Rain Let it Rain, Rain on Me.

(now) I Run, for getting tired.

I lie lie lie when I am right.

Desperately assured

Just a follower propelled by fright

Concrete voices seem so surreal

Disco rangers sound like steel

I close my door I close my mind

Because today’s been too unkind

Let it Rain Let it Rain Let it Rain, Rain on Me.

Let it Rain, let it Rain Let it Rain, Rain on Me.

Let it Rain Let it Rain Let it Rain, Rain on Me.

Let it Rain, let it Rain Let it Rain, Rain on Me.

Bridge

Rain Rain go away, come again some other day

Rain Rain go away, come again some other day

Rain Rain go away, come again some other day

Rain Rain go away, come again some other day

Rain on me Let it rain on me Let it rain on me Let it rain down on me.

About Rain Dance

History and Recording

– History

Rain Dance was written (and sung) by Kevin Brady for Modern Logic, and appeared on the 1989 album Rain Dance on Green Truck Records. I wrote the chorus then, and later re-arranged the song for solo performance, making it more “guitar centric” and then played the new rendition with Cowgomoo, Neon Kings, and ultimately with the BiG! duo, and then on “small.”

– Recording

Recorded originally live acoustic for the “album that never happened” with me and JR set up in the main room of Studio 607. The “album that never happened” does exist, but was put on infinite hold to make way for the much louder, raucous electric “small” recording by the full band.

All of the “small” sessions featured the one room paradigm, playing live in real time (with a click to ensure that we don’t “travel” too much. We naturally play around the beat so that the sound never gets too locked in.   After a few passes, we had the basics done (drums and bass.) The guitar had to be scrapped on all of the “small” sessions’ initial run through.

Guitar day was super fun, using the phenomenal selection of amplifiers supplied by Studio 607, set up in the main room, and my PRS. It was truly a wall of guitar, with the bridge feedback the favourite part

Mac got additional passes for his solo during the bridge but nailed it without much fuss.

All vocals were also done in the main room, with JR doubling me to emphasize the choruses and certain phrases throughout, and Mac chiming in on the choruses, and especially in the coda with three distinct parts going on.
